Max García Conover is a songwriter from western New York, now based in Maine. He shares home recordings through his mailing list and albums through various record labels. He writes lyrically precise folk songs that move through dissidence and intimacy and humor, seeking to do what Adrienne Rich said poetry is capable of: giving language and form to the chaos and beauty and desperation of being alive. His latest album is a collaboration with songwriter Haley Heynderickx called What Of Our Nature, a project loosely inspired by their conversations around the work of Woody Guthrie. The album was released by Fat Possum Records and it received praise from NPR, Paste Magazine, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times, which listed it as one of the Best Albums of 2025.
